Fish Family Neptune

It is with great joy that we announce the Neptune family. Neptune is the Roman God of Freshwater and the Sea. His Greek God equivalent is Poseidon. The Neptunes are a close family. One thing that makes it that way is their READING time together. This also makes them smart. The Neptunes have read many many books together. They don't necessarily all read at the same time, although it does happen. What they do is come together after reading for lots of discussion, analysis and questions.

Ma Penelope recently had them read the classic, MOBY DICK. Her favorite fellow sea creature is the sperm whale and this is why she chose it. Pa Simbad is not nearly so serious when it comes to reading, as evidenced by his pick last month - MISTER SEAHORSE by Eric Carle. This is a charming picture book about sea creatures and parental care. Bennie also likes the classics. He picked Ernest Hemmingway's THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA, which is about a great struggle between a fisherman and a giant marlin. Caprio was proud of his pick, THE RAINBOW FISH by Marcus Pfister. This is a marvelously illustrated children's book about sharing and friendship. Jax likes sci-fi fantasy, which explains why every time its his pick now, he chooses the next book in the HARRY POTTER SERIES of seven by J. K. Rowling. And no one is mad about it. Reading together gives the Neptunes something big in common and something to communicate and postulate about together. The Neptunes would be super companions for you.
